Description

As a Tooling Management Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance and optimization of tools and equipment used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of ships. You will play a key role in ensuring the availability of reliable tools, which are essential for the productivity and safety of operational teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar position, ideally in a shipyard or industrial sector.
  • Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in Industrial Maintenance, Logistics, Electrical Engineering, or experience in any other related field.
  • Solid knowledge of manual, electric, and pneumatic tools.
  • Proficiency in maintenance and diagnostic techniques.
  • Good understanding of safety standards and industrial processes.
  • Organizational skills and thoroughness.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to make suggestions and show initiative.
  • Knowledge of the specific characteristics of shipyards.
  • Proficiency in inventory and maintenance management software (CMMS).Successful completion of the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government’s Contract Security Program.

Responsibilities
  • Identify tooling needs according to ongoing projects.
  • Monitor tool and equipment inventory in collaboration with the Supply Chain Department.
  • Organize the procurement, distribution, and tracking of tools.
  • Follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance of tools.
  • Diagnose recurring issues.
  • Ensure that the equipment functions properly and complies with safety standards.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are used according to safety instructions.
  • Train teams, in collaboration with the Health and Safety Department, on health and safety good practices and protocols related to the use of tools.
  • Identify and eliminate risks associated with defective or unsuitable equipment.
  • Ensure the strict application of hygiene, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Research and recommend new tools or technologies to improve productivity.
  • Train teams on the proper use of new equipment.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement or processes related to the use of tools.
  • Ensure that tools are used according to current regulations (safety and environment).
  • Supervise tooling audits and inspections.
