JOB SUMMARY

The position supports both local and national touring operations through the maintenance and coordination of technical equipment and vehicles. This role ensures materials and transportation are safe, functional, and tour-ready, while providing training and support to touring staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in vehicle maintenance coordination, or related logistics experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively manage equipment and vehicle schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently learn, research and apply new information or skills as needed.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle registration, insurance, and compliance processes.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, including internal teams and external vendors.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and training practices for drivers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and effective in road-related incidents.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional urgent support needs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tour Actor/Director experience.
  • Degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to solve mechanical problems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit at a desk for periods exceeding 4 hours, with breaks as needed.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to drive company vehicles when requested.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

Tour Equipment

  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to Tour Actor/Directors.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director regarding construction, maintenance, and preparation of technical materials for tour use.
  • Coordinate check-out and check-in of tour technical equipment for both domestic and international tours.
  • Manage refurbishment of tour equipment and restocking of technical supplies.
  • Facilitate refitting and delivery of equipment for international tours.
  • Provide technical support for local day camp and tour prototype productions.
  • Maintain and assign generic and show specific tour equipment

    Vehicle Management

  • Oversee the care, maintenance, and compliance of MCT’s vehicle fleet.

  • Provide prompt on-call support for touring staff regarding vehicle-related issues, including emergencies or mechanical problems that may arise outside of regular business hours.
  • Coordinate tour vehicle registration, titling, insurance records, and outfitting (e.g., truck toppers, decals, equipment).
  • Report, document, and follow up with insurance providers on vehicle incidents or accidents involving company vehicles, ensuring timely submission of claims and necessary documentation.
  • Manage vehicle-related programs including WEX fuel card system, toll passes and area tracking, in collaboration with the Finance Department.
  • Collaborate with the Executive and Finance Directors in the purchasing and sale of company vehicles.
  • Develop and enforce vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure safety compliance.
  • Provide driver training to touring staff during tour training.
  • Maintain professional relationships with dealerships, repair shops, and service vendors, both locally and around the country.
  • Ensure vehicles are mechanically ready and fully equipped for each tour.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

  • Provide back-up support to the tour department as needed.
  • Support special projects and organizational needs as assigned.
