SUMMARY

The Tow Truck Operator is the frontline responder to CAA/AAA Member service calls for roadside assistance and vehicle towing. Their primary responsibilities include safely transporting disabled vehicles, providing minor roadside repairs, and ensuring excellent customer service.
The Tow Truck Operator conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintains accurate service records, and adheres to all safety and traffic regulations. They require strong mechanical skills, physical stamina, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly.
The Tow Truck Operator works closely with dispatch and team members to ensure efficient and timely service delivery, contributing to the safety and satisfaction of our Members.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Tow Truck Operator or in a similar role

Skills

  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of vehicle systems.
  • Ability to operate tow trucks and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly.

Responsibilities

Operational Duties

  • Respond promptly to dispatch calls for roadside assistance and towing services.
  • Safely load, transport, and unload vehicles using tow trucks.
  • Ensure the proper and secure attachment of vehicles to the tow truck.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tow truck to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the tow truck to ensure its reliability and appearance.

Member Service

  • Provide minor roadside repairs (e.g., jump starts, tire changes, fuel delivery).
  • Communicate effectively with Members, providing excellent customer service and explaining the towing process when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided, including before and after photos, details of the towed vehicle, service location, and Member information.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures and traffic laws while operating the tow truck.
  • Ensure the safety of Members and their vehicles during the towing process.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with team members and dispatch to optimize response times and service efficiency.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Tow Truck Operator or in a similar role.

Licensing

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License, with a clean driving record; Class D preferred
  • Ontario Tow Driver Certificate is required
