TOWNSHIP OF NIPIGONTOWNSHIP MANAGER

Nipigon is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of Township Manager.

Reporting directly to Council as the administrative head of all staff, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide administrative leadership and oversee the effective and efficient delivery of municipal services.
  • Direct the overall planning, direction, administration, and control of all municipal departments and operations in accordance with the objectives, policies, and plans approved by Council and in compliance with legislation.
  • Perform the statutory duties of Municipal Clerk and Treasurer.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive starting salary within the range of $95,000–$122,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, coupled with an excellent benefits package.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma (public administration, business, accounting, or related field an asset).
  • Minimum five years of direct management experience in a municipal or related setting.
  • AMCTO, CPA, CMO, or related designation preferred; commitment to professional development required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of management practices, the Municipal Act, Planning Act, and related legislation.
  • Experience in business management, planning, budgeting, finance, and HR.
  • Strong understanding of OHSA, MFIPPA, and other relevant legislation.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with ability to manage change and motivate staff.
  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills to interact with Council, staff, and the public.
  • Strong emotional intelligence including self-control, awareness, and adaptability.
  • Advanced problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Knowledge of municipal finance and treasury duties.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
