JOB SUMMARY

The advertised roles will be primarily based within the Information, Compliance and Assurance Team, however the successful candidate may be required to support other operational areas of the TRA, including its casework team. This is an opportunity to work across areas providing variety and building experience for the successful person.
The Information, Compliance and Assurance Team (ICAT).
ICAT are responsible for managing all TRA correspondence, and data incident reporting. They are also responsible for triaging correspondence to the relevant team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an exciting role where you will be able to contribute to the TRA’s statutory responsibility in regulating the teaching profession.
The role will include managing Subject Access (SAR) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and support with the drafting of Treat Official (TO) correspondence and complaints.
The role will include being the first point of contact for queries received through the email inbox and enquiry telephone line. Drafting and responding to correspondence received. You will speak to multiple stakeholders engaged in TRA work, including teachers, witnesses as well as dealing with enquiries from members of the public, press and police forces.
The postholder will work with the TRA’s information management systems to support schools and other stakeholders to answer their enquiries, ensuring updates are in a timely and highly accurate manner. The postholder will also provide other administrative support as required.
This is a fast-paced role, and the successful candidate will need to be able to balance competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

ICAT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and quality assure correspondence drafted by colleagues.
  • Contribute to discussions on correspondence both internally with TRA, as well as with advisory services such as the Data Protection Office and Freedom of Information Equality Duty Team.
  • Report data incidents and escalate where necessary to the relevant advisory services.
  • Answer subject access requests by way of considering and redacting documents under the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Answer freedom of information requests and subject access requests made to TRA for information that will go into the public domain, ensuring appropriate sign off is obtained.

WIDER TRA SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring information about cases is kept up to date and secure.
  • Monitor, triage and allocate correspondence for all communications.
  • Contact with stakeholders including: teachers, witnesses, legal representatives and volunteer panellists.
  • Collaborating with internal colleagues to support the Professional Conduct Panel hearings.
  • Support the logistical arrangements associated with managing hearings both on site and virtually.
  • Documenting decisions of and publishing the outcomes of hearings.

SHARED ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completing administrative duties and provide administrative support.
  • Contact with stakeholders, responding to email and telephone queries accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborating with internal colleagues to support the work of the TRA.
  • Work confidently with various information management systems and use a database system to input data, action change of detail requests and search records.
  • Adopt an approach of continuous improvement in the role.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of both DfE and TRA correspondence processes.
  • Draft responses to customers such as requests from police, DBS, teachers and members of the public.

  • You must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date and not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
  • You must not already have a substantial amount of the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
  • You must not have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard
