Under broad supervision, uses internal cost information to help analyze competitive pricing of products or proposed cost reductions. Analyses market trends and competitor data to forecast pricing models. Provides insights on the impact of pricing changes on growth rates and profitability. Performs analysis to understand customer price sensitivity and the impact of pricing changes to the business. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned): Maintains a safe working environment by making sure all employees understand and follow all safety rules. Walks railroad tracks, identifying deficiencies in the track infrastructure and preparing proposals and pricing for correcting deficiencies for customer. Reads and analyzes requests for proposals in developing professional responses for new construction work. Maintains a positive relationship with the customer by providing a high level of service and by meeting goals set by the customer and Ameritrack. Manages the operation ensuring that all conditions of the proposal are met. Manages inventory and vendor orders going to jobs, making sure that all materials are on site in a timely fashion. Motivates and maintains a high level of morale among employees. Maintains a thorough knowledge of operating procedures, safety rules, and rail construction operations. Ensures that payroll, fuel costs, equipment costs, and other costs are managed effectively. Properly maintains the purchase order system. Develops and follows preventive maintenance program for all equipment with the assistance of the mechanical department. Assists in arranging work schedules so that each crew has a balanced mix of experience with appropriate expertise in all job types. Performs administrative duties including evaluation forms, filing reports required by the customer and the company (e.g. PO requests, safety audits, month end reporting, progress billing, end of project billing). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Direct crews as to the work to be accomplished, making sure that crews have all the necessary information to complete the work on a timely basis. Provide support to the crews throughout the project. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE College degree in Building and Construction Technology or equivalent construction management experience preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write professional proposals, routine reports and customer correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to use a calculator. Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with standard problems that occur in a construction environment.
