Overview ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s New York City office is seeking a Traction Power Intern to join the team for Summer of 2026. The intern will work on various transit and rail infrastructure traction power projects. Responsibilities Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner Engineering calculations Contract documents including specifications Assist in planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for transit-focused system infrastructure projects Produce/draw railway signal and comms design drawings in CAD Survey of existing signal and comms equipment on MTA and MNR Skills and Attributes Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients Self-motivated with attention to detail Robust technical and critical thinking skills Exposure to CAD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD Qualifications Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently Strong interest in comms and signal engineering Our best estimate of the hourly salary range for this position located in New York is $19/hr - $30/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience. VHB does not provide housing for internships. We are VHB!
