OVERVIEW

We are seeking reliable and experienced Tractor Operators to join our team for the upcoming Winter Season for the construction of ice roads. You will be responsible for operating a Tractor to groom, level and prepare snow packed well pads for freeze in. This position is ideal for individuals comfortable working in extreme cold, remote locations, and long shifts, including day or nighttime operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL) is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a Tractor with good references.
  • Previous experience working in ice road construction or winter road maintenance preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to work long shifts in extreme cold (-40°C or lower)
  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in remote locations with limited access to amenities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with supervision.
  • Strong commitment to safety and situational awareness is a must if you are going to join our team.
  • Previous experience and good standing at Suncor sites is a bonus.
Responsibilities
  • Operate a Tractor to open initial winter access, maintain the road, drag tires, and freeze in well pads.
  • Monitor ice thickness and road conditions to ensure structural integrity and safety.
  • Drive and maneuver tractor safely in remote, off-road, confined spaces and icy conditions.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Ice road Supervisors, Foreman, Equipment Operators, Snowmaking Operators and Construction Teams.
  • Accurately log daily activities, machine maintenance, and areas of concern on road sections in your work area.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, especially those related to cold weather operations and environmental protection, as well as keeping all other workers in the area safe.
  • Respond to changing road and weather conditions and adjust driving/application techniques accordingly.
