POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a skilled Trade Accountant to manage and oversee all financial transactions and processes inherent to our trading operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within a trading, distribution, or wholesale environment, with a keen understanding of inventory management, cost of goods sold, and gross margin analysis. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of our financial records and providing insights to drive profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is a strong plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a trading, distribution, wholesale, or retail industry. Experience in the building materials sector is a significant advantage.
  • Solid understanding of inventory accounting principles and cost of goods sold.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or other major ERPs) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments.
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and a proactive work ethic.
    Salary: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Inventory Accounting:
  • Manage end-to-end inventory accounting, including recording receipts, shipments, and adjustments.
  • Perform regular inventory reconciliations and lead periodic physical stock counts.
  • Value inventory using appropriate methods (FIFO, Weighted Average) and account for inventory provisions or write-downs.
  • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) & Gross Margin Analysis:
  • Accurately calculate the cost of goods sold for each transaction.
  • Analyze and report on gross profit margins by product line, customer, and sales channel.
  • Investigate and explain significant margin variances to support pricing and purchasing decisions.
  • Trade Processing:
  • Oversee the accounting for the complete order-to-cash and purchase-to-pay cycles.
  • Process accounts payable invoices related to supplier purchases, ensuring accurate coding and timely payment.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, application of payments, and collection follow-up.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet) for management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
  • Other Duties:
  • Reconcile bank statements and key balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with external audit preparations and provide necessary support.
  • Collaborate with the sales, procurement, and logistics teams to improve financial processes and controls.
  • Handle import-related financial documentation and customs duty accounting (if applicable).
