We are seeking a We are seeking a skilled Trade Assistant to join the team at St John of God Midland Private Hospital, set to open in August. In this role, you will work collaboratively as part of a team to support qualified trades in maintaining building services and ensuring all facilities remain in good working order across the hospital. You will also play a key role in assisting and guiding entry-level Trades Assistants as required. About the new Midland Private Hospital A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus. A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region The hospital will feature: 96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit. 33-bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit Eight operating theatres. A cardiac/vascular catheter laboratory The Role Provide daily assistance to trade caregivers in the repair and maintenance of services. Lead and support unqualified Trade Assistants as directed. Responsible for the organisation, upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of workshop areas and plant rooms. Monitor and manage stock supplies, such as first aid kits, PPE, spill kits and consumables. Monitor and locate equipment with outstanding maintenance. Attend to assigned work orders issued via the maintenance management system, complete works as per procedures and close work orders as completed. Be on call for low-level maintenance issues that require attention as allocated. Ensure internal communication processes are adhered to e.g. carry pocket pager / DECT phone. Participate in daily prestart meetings and Engineering meetings as required. Minor building trade type repairs such as ceramic tiling, concreting and air conditioning maintenance. Assist with building and plant inspections as required. All other reasonable duties as directed by Manager/Supervisor. We are seeking a candidate with experience as a Trades Assistant within a building or engineering environment, who demonstrates a strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles to ensure the wellbeing of both themselves and others. You will be confident working both autonomously and as part of a team, with the ability to support and lead unskilled trades where required. Proficiency in the use of hand tools and workshop equipment is essential, along with sound communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate ideas and solve problems effectively. The successful applicant will be able to interpret written and verbal instructions, prioritise tasks efficiently, and perform manual duties in line with workplace health and safety standards.
