Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Trade Compliance team plays a critical role in ensuring Rheinmetall Defence Australia Pty Ltd meets its regulatory and commercial obligations lawfully. As the Trade Compliance Senior Specialist, you will provide subject matter expertise to your assigned project teams in relation to their import and export control needs. You will also provide guidance and assistance relating to their access to and management of controlled technology. You will be responsible for applications for and management of any required permits and licences to cover their activities.
This role has the flexibility to be able to offer a range of working schedules including full-time, part-time or individuals that are seeking to work school hours.

As Trade Compliance Senior Specialist, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Providing expert advice and guidance on requirements and obligations in dealing with defence articles, technical data and defence services under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as well as Australian and non-US control regimes;
  • Identifying licensing requirements for assigned projects in order to manage associated regulatory risks;
  • Ensuring products and technical data are marked and dealt with correctly, and that RDA has the required approvals in place for technical data and goods;
  • Providing guidance to the project teams regarding access to controlled technology;
  • Preparing and delivering export control training;
  • Assisting with Trade Compliance reporting (e.g. Contract reviews, project status, etc.); and
  • Providing advice and guidance to internal and external customers on trade compliance regulations, RDA specific policies and procedures, relevant documentation, licence management and record keeping.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Practical experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, supply chain or export control within the defence, aerospace or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian export control legislation (DTCA, DSGL, Customs Act 1901 (Cth), and Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011 (Cth).
  • Strong working knowledge of the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Administration Regulations (particularly as they relate to deemed exports and re-exports).
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate, when required; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
