The Trader will focus on developing certain key markets and commodities within a specified region, under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Trader. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and within a team environment, demonstrate sound decision-making aptitude and delivery of customer service excellence.

The successful candidate will:

  • Source and sell commodities directly to Farm and Trade Accounts
  • Set up new accounts in accordance with BroadGrain credit policies and to monitor such accounts in order to maintain credit terms
  • Work closely with the Senior Trader in order to market current products that BroadGrain currently handles, as well as developing new products/opportunities for resale
  • Spending time on road in order to connect with potential and existing accounts
  • Aggressively target potential markets to generate business – expand the network of customers and develop current customers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with producers and customers as a positive company ambassador
  • Manage and build a successful book of business while always looking for new opportunities within the markets.
  • Keep up-to-date with grain trends and market conditions to ensure competitiveness
  • Administer, promote and adhere to purchase, sale and production contracts, ensuring compliance with all related policies and process
  • Manage contracts from the point of shipping to receiving proper payments with contract terms

Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics groups to ensure contracts are properly executed

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of commodities trading within domestic markets

  • Ability to research and solve problems
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry’s trading standards and procedures
  • Demonstrate an independent entrepreneurial success in a fast paced environment
  • Effective customer service skills and a positive style in business transactions
  • Be strategic in nature while also possessing solid skills in relation to implementation and execution
  • Problem solving skills with the proper decision making abilities
  • Possess demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong risk management skills and knowledge: proactively manage for optimal outcomes
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication including the ability to communicate with all levels of management as well as strong presentation skills
  • Possess a proven track record for building business in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Be experienced in partnering with an executive leadership team, resulting in the development and implementation of creative business strategies
