Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As Trader on our Drydesk, you’ll take full commercial ownership of one or more product categories — such as pulses, seeds, or dried fruit. You’re responsible for procurement and play a key role in sales: buying from international suppliers, managing availability and quality, and steering margins across the full chain.
You’re not just executing — you’re actively managing risk, margin, planning, and product positioning throughout the year. You’re expected to know your category inside out, anticipate market shifts, and make the right calls fast.
You’re a key player when it comes to the profitability of your category. That includes managing trade volumes, pricing, customer satisfaction, and supplier relationships — while keeping the rest of the commercial team informed and aligned.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll turn commercial ownership into day-to-day action. That includes managing supplier contracts, monitoring open positions, and resolving operational or quality issues as they arise.
You’ll partner closely with sales to uncover new opportunities — whether by reallocating stock, opening new accounts, or adjusting product positioning. You’ll also align daily with QA, logistics, and sourcing to keep product moving and decisions sharp.
Some days are structured and strategic. Others are fast-moving and reactive — managing claims, solving delays, or adjusting forecasts. You’ll also travel occasionally to trade fairs, suppliers, or clients across Europe (±15–20%).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage procurement and commercial performance of 1–2 product categories
  • Negotiate pricing, volumes, specs, contracts, and delivery timelines
  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships (±30 active contacts), ensuring vendor approval compliance
  • Monitor and steer availability, margins, quality, and category performance
  • Track international market trends and initiate new trade opportunities or product ideas
  • Help shape category sales budgets and take corrective actions when targets are off-track
  • Resolve commercial issues (claims, delays, documentation gaps) and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate closely with sales, sourcing, QA, logistics, and finance
  • Contribute to ERP, planning cycles, and process improvements across the trading desk
  • Actively participate in internal commercial meetings and cross-functional reviews
  • Travel occasionally within the EU (fairs, suppliers, customers)
