About the role Mater Private Hospital Redlands is seeking applications for a Trades Assistant (Handyman) to join our team. This permanent, part-time role (15 hours per week) is based at our hospital at Redlands. Salary range: $35.23 - $36.53 per hour plus superannuation [https://www.ato.gov.au/tax-rates-and-codes/key-superannuation-rates-and-thresholds/super-guarantee] and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 [https://account.smartsalary.com.au/benefits-available?ercode=MML]  + access to many staff benefits!  [https://www.mater.org.au/group/careers/working-with-mater] What you’ll be doing You will be responsible for the efficient and timely maintenance within the facility. This may include minor repairs, electrical testing, gardening activities, minor patching and painting as appropriate within the handyman scope of activities. * Ensure that all work is tracked, managed and completed in the electronic service management system (BEIMS) together with entries for time and materials * Proactively identify repair & maintain building areas within the scope of this role and ensure that a job is logged in the service management system * Replacement of lighting lamps and tubes (any work that includes removal of covers that expose live parts or wiring must be referred to the Electricians) * Repair or replacement of fixtures and fittings such as toilet seats, toilet roll holders, shower rails, privacy locks, shower heads (shower rose), noticeboards, glove, sharps and gel brackets * Test and tag of new patient appliances. * Minor furniture repairs * Door repairs including simple lock adjustments * Ceiling tile replacements * Minor carpet repairs including regluing * Minor repairs to walls and fittings including patch and paint * Trolley maintenance – wheels and bump strip replacement * Nurse call handset testing and replacement * Light gardening including watering plants and clean up of garden debris in carpark and walkways About you You will have broad/generalist exposure to a range of Maintenance / Handyman concepts/ you will also meet the below criteria: * Previous experience in a hospital or large commercial complex (desirable) * Essential – Electrical Test and Tag license Why join us?
