ABOUT THE ROLE

The Trades Assistant – Paint Shop will be responsible for supporting the qualified Painters in all aspects of Paint and Lining. Based full time in the MILVEHCOE facility, this role will mainly focus on preparation for paint, maintaining paint stock levels, maintenance of tooling and equipment and Paint Shop cleaning.

The general and generic duties of the Trades Assistant – Paint Shop include, but not limited to:

  • Undertake a wide range of paint preparation duties including grit blasting, sanding., and the related in-process quality checking of Rheinmetall vehicles and components following all relevant standards, work instructions and drawings;
  • Assisting with lining vehicles after paint;
  • Unmask and mask up vehicles ready for paint, washing trucks in preparation for paint;
  • Undertaking clean up duties – emptying bins, driving floor sweeper, general area tidy and housekeeping, filling rag bins;
  • Maintain the Paint workshops, tools, and its equipment in accordance with WHS and 5S requirements;
  • Maintain paint consumable stock levels through Team Lead Paint Shop;
  • Complete work documents and systems during and upon completion of work including in the SAP ERP;
  • Ensure compliance with RDA’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy requirements, and in general take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm to the workplace, its employees and the environment; and
  • Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your team leader from time to time.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Experience working in a paint, lining or sandblasting environment in a production or manufacturing facility;
  • Fast learner and the ability and willingness to understand new concepts;
  • Sound computer skills – Microsoft Office skills and general data entry programs;
  • The ability to travel interstate or overseas for training if required (generally once off training); and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
