Job Description Role Overview The Trading Analyst (Coal) will support the commercial trading team through market analysis, pricing support, exposure monitoring, and trade execution activities across APAC coal markets. This role will work closely with traders, operations, risk, and finance teams to support commercial decision-making and optimize trading performance in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor physical coal, freight, and derivatives markets across APAC regions Analyze market trends, supply-demand movements, pricing dynamics, and arbitrage opportunities Support traders with cargo pricing, freight calculations, and market intelligence Assist in P&L tracking, exposure monitoring, and pricing analysis across trading activities Develop and maintain Excel-based models, pricing sheets, and analytical tools Prepare daily / weekly market updates, trading reports, and commercial analysis Work closely with operations, finance, and risk teams to support smooth cargo execution Support contract administration, trade documentation, and shipment coordination Contribute ideas to improve reporting, analytics, and trading workflows Qualifications Experience & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline 3–5 years of experience in commodity trading, trading analytics, commercial analysis, or related fields Exposure to coal, energy, dry bulk commodities, shipping, or trading environment is advantageous Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling); Power BI / VBA / Python is a plus Understanding of physical trading, freight economics, pricing structures, or derivatives markets is advantageous Competencies Strong interest in commodity markets and trading environment Commercially curious with analytical mindset Able to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment Good communication and stakeholder management skills Self-driven and comfortable operating in a lean team setup
