We are currently looking for a Section Head of Power and Cross-Commodity Trading who will be responsible for leading and growing the company’s proprietary trading activities in energy markets with primary focus on Power, EU Allowances (EUAs), Natural Gas (TTF), Guarantees of Origin (GOs) and cross-border Physical Transmission Rights (PTRs) to deliver sustainable, risk-aware returns. The candidate will define the trading strategies and oversee the execution of informed trading decisions in the short and medium term based on market trends, forecasts, and analysis of energy commodities. The role will also involve the development and mentoring of a team of traders, fostering a high-performance culture. As part of the responsibilities, the candidate will model energy markets and analyze data in order to identify, implement and continuously improve trading strategies. What will you do: Use technical analysis, quantitative models, and market intelligence to discover trends and patterns in various energy commodities. Define, implement and execute proprietary trading strategies across forward horizons (weekly → multi-year) for Power, EUAs, Natural Gas (TTF) and GOs, combining physical and financial positions to optimise returns. Track market fundamentals, including generation capacity, fuel prices, weather, and policy developments in South-East Europe. Models energy markets and performs quantitative analysis in order to identify trading strategies in various energy commodities and cross-border transmission rights. Own the desk’s P&L generation subject to Finance’s risk limits; conduct regular P&L attribution, trade justification and strategy reviews. Recruit, lead and develop a compact, high-performing team of traders and quantitative analysts; set objectives, conduct reviews and deliver continuous training. Oversee the daily trading operations. Ensure accurate and timely trade capture into the ETRM system and maintain high data integrity for auditability Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with the Company’s framework and external regulatory requirements. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on market developments, trading performance, and strategies. Regularly interact with other teams internally to discuss strategies, business implications, and market movements. What you need to be successful: A BSc in Engineering or Mathematics Excellent knowledge of Technical analysis with at least 4 years of proven working experience Proven experience in the modelling of the energy sector Advanced knowledge of MS Office Knowledge of energy market simulation software (Plexos, EPSI) and R/Python programming is strongly preferred Experience in technical analysis and commodity trading Novelty seeking mind-set Good understanding of energy markets.
