Job Description
CIMA+ is seeking to hire a Traffic and Road Safety Engineer to support our expanding Traffic and Safety practice in Ontario. You will have the opportunity to broaden your experience by being exposed to many aspects of road safety, including Vision Zero planning, road safety data collection and processing, network screening, roadway and railway safety reviews, research and literature reviews. In addition, you would be able to conduct comprehensive assessments of specific events, collisions or losses and determine to what extent, if any, the design, operations, or maintenance of a transportation facility contributed to a specific event or collision.

The opening is available in any of our southern Ontario offices – Burlington, Toronto, Mississauga, and Kitchener.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior technical staff to develop high-quality and technically accurate end products.
  • Conduct site visits, field observations and field measurements.
  • Conduct data collection and processing in support of road safety initiatives.
  • Review plans and specifications to determine whether they meet relevant transportation regulations, guidelines, standards, policies and practices.
  • Perform in-depth safety investigations for post-collisions/ incidents with a proactive safety or Vision Zero approach for the potential improvement of existing or future facilities.
  • Communicate with clients and other team members.
  • Undertake research and literature reviews in concurrence with various projects.
  • Conduct public and stakeholder engagement.
  • Preparing reports, proposals and supporting materials
  • Fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, cooperation and collaboration, and
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A university degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in Transportation.
  • Working knowledge of industry guidance including but not limited to OTM, TAC/MTO Geometric Design, MUTCDC, and Highway Safety Manual.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite of products.
  • Capable of undertaking field assessments, including possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license.
  • Professional Engineering (PEO) designation is an asset.
