Job Details Job Location: DENTON TRAFFIC CONTROL - KRUGERVILLE, TX Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: Undisclosed Description ***Pre-Employment Drug Screen required for all applicants*** TRAFFIC CONTROL TECH III (Lead) This is a supervisory position. The Traffic Control Tech III is accountable for the safety, quality, and efficiency of his work and his crew. The Traffic Control Tech III reports directly to the Traffic Control Supervisor and Crew Chief. REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner. EDUCATION Required: High School Diploma or equivalent, LICENSING / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATION Required: Valid Texas driver’s license in good standing No at fault accidents or driving violations in the past 3 years Successful completion of ATSSA Traffic Control Technician and Traffic Control Supervisor Course. OR TEEX Work Zone Traffic Control and Work Zone Responsible Person Must be at least 21 Years of Age EXPERIENCE Required: Two (2) years of Traffic Control experience SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Ability to accept direction and feedback from Traffic Control Supervisor and Crew Chief and follow through appropriately Ability to adjust to changes in work tasks or environment Ability to read, understand and carry out written instructions and present questions when instructions are unclear Ability to read, understand and carry out verbal instructions and present questions when instructions are unclear Ability to maintain a positive attitude Mechanical aptitude, performing routine maintenance and repair on equipment Map reading skills with the ability to find locations, navigate to job sites and navigate back to warehouse Good working knowledge of traffic control Ability to program, maintain and repair arrow boards and message boards Skilled in setting up basic traffic control layout Complete deliveries when needed Knowledge of various tools and equipment used in the field and ability to select the appropriate tool or equipment to perform task at hand Active listening skills where others are given full attention, taking time to understand what is being said, asking to follow up questions if necessary. Ability to operate in an organized and time efficient manner Ability to read and understand work instructions, plans, drawings, etc. Ability to work extended hours, days, nights and weekends, On Call. when necessary. Reading, writing and arithmetic skills PHYSICAL The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. BODY POSITIONS: Must have the ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time while performing job functions. BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of their hands to fingers, handle equipment and tools. The ability to bend the body, crouch, kneel and crawl to reach for objects is required. BODY SENSES: The employee must have command of the following senses: sight, hearing, and touch. Specific abilities include: vision must be able to discern colors, as well as depth perception. STRENGTH: The employee must have the ability to lift 50 pounds with regularity. WORKING CONDITIONS This position requires the employee to work indoors in a smoke-free non-climate-controlled environment, but mostly outdoors in conditions that may range from hot to cold, windy and rainy at times. Travel to the warehouse, office and jobsites may be in all types of weather conditions including rain, snow and icy conditions. AUTHORITY The Traffic Control Tech III is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities assigned approved or delegated by the Traffic Control Supervisor and Crew Chief or Director of Traffic Control. Such authority may include: Report any abuse of the Company’s policies and procedures to Supervisor or other members of Management. Authority to enforce the Company’s Safety Policies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Traffic Control Tech III include but are not limited to: Arrive at the shop and be prepared to work at the beginning of the shift Follow work instructions to ensure consistent service and product quality Recommend measures to improve efficiency, service quality, product quality, and safety Maintain all work areas, vehicles and work sites in a neat and orderly fashion Load and unload materials and equipment on site Program, maintain and repair arrow boards and message boards Notify Traffic Control Supervisor or Traffic Control Crew Chief of any quality or safety related concerns Keep Traffic Control Supervisor and Crew Chief informed on all ongoing activities Demonstrate initiative by evaluating situations, making decisions based on facts and solid judgments Act in a manner that represents the professional manner reflecting the company’s values and principles Perform duties in an independent manner with little supervision Maintain a cooperative working relationship with employees Constantly look for and suggest ways to perform duties and responsibilities more effectively, what we call “Act Like an Owner.” Perform all duties in a manner that is compliant with all applicable regulatory bodies, i.e. Texas DOT. Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the Traffic Control supervisor and Crew Chief or Director of Traffic Control MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE The Traffic Control Tech III shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished: The Traffic Control Supervisor and Crew Chief is kept informed of daily activity Projects and Deliveries are completed to satisfaction of Customers Zero safety violations or incidents within the employee’s control Returned materials and supplies from Traffic Control Crews meet Company expectations Attendance and participation at Company Meetings Other tasks assigned by the Traffic Control Supervisor and Crew Chief are performed in an accurate, complete, and timely manner Qualifications
