Description

Pioneer Construction is looking for hard-working, self-motivated employees with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Traffic Control Person in the Thunder Bay, Ontario area. This is a full-time seasonal position available with an extensive benefits package.

EDUCATION:

  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.
  • High school diploma is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in the construction or concrete industry is considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks including physical requirements of lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, climbing, extended periods of standing, etc.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Responsibilities
  • Set-up and take down traffic control signs and devices.
  • Control the safe and efficient flow of traffic through construction zones.
  • Keep a log of all daily tasks and filling in time sheets and work orders.
  • Ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Must stand for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
  • Work schedule including evenings and weekends when required.
  • Travel to job sites with overnight stays when required.
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
