AECOM’s Transportation group has an outstanding career opportunity for a Transportation Engineering Department Manager specializing in Traffic Engineering, Safety, Signal Design, and Travel Demand Forecasting Studies . By leading our multidisciplinary statewide traffic team, you will play a crucial role in fostering client relationships and spearheading efforts to secure traffic engineering projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering plus eight years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in Traffic Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in NJ
  • Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) traffic engineering departments, procedures, and standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in NJ and NYS and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
  • 20 years of experience in the traffic engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) traffic engineering departments, procedures, and standards.
  • Proficiency in traffic simulation software such as VISSIM, Synchro, Sidra, and HCS.
  • Proven track record in developing client relationships and leading project pursuits.
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead traffic engineering and travel forecasting studies, including traffic impact analysis, signal design, safety studies, and microsimulation.
  • Use tools such as SimTraffic, Vissim, CUBE, Synchro, HCS, and Vistro.
  • Prepare Vision Zero and safety studies in line with NJDOT, NJTA, and FHWA standards.
  • Present findings to internal teams, clients, and the public.
  • Oversee project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Mentor staff and coordinate workload planning.
  • Support business development, proposal writing, and client engagement.
