Description
RK&K is hiring a Traffic Engineer for our team in Wilmington, Delaware.  As a Traffic Engineer with RK&K you will work alongside and collaborate with one of the largest, most talented group of traffic engineers and transportation professionals in the industry. You will play a crucial role within our team, performing traffic analyses and developing traffic engineering designs to improve transportation systems throughout the region. Our projects focus on improving operation and safety for motorized and non-motorized modes of travel, providing healthy and livable communities, and implementing technology-based transportation improvements.  Essential Functions * Assist with the preparation of design plans for traffic control devices including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, work zones, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)  * Perform field investigations, collect and compile traffic data, evaluate traffic safety and operational conditions for all road users, and develop recommendations for improvements.  * Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates   * Support preparation of design documentation and specification packages  * Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges  Required Skills and Experience  * Zero (0) to Three (3) years of experience in traffic engineering   * Strong attention to detail  * Ability to work both independently and in a team environment  * Excellent written and oral communication skills  * Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field  Preferred Skills and Experience    * Applicable prior internship experience  * Working knowledge of Microstation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and AutoCAD  * Exposure to traffic engineering references (MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, AASHTO guidelines)  * Engineering Intern (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months   Other Duties  This job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA).
