Calvin Giordano & Associates, a SAFEbuilt company is currently searching for a Traffic Engineer in our Fort Lauderdale office. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic engineering
- Professional Engineering License in Florida

Responsibilities:
- Design and permitting of signalization plans for intersection upgrades, school flashers, mid-block crossings, etc.
- Development of various traffic operations and safety studies to help identify, evaluate, and recommend traffic operations and safety improvements for intersections, and arterials. This includes the development of basic types of safety and traffic operations studies including Qualitative Assessments, Signal Warrant Analysis, Intersection Analysis, Arterial Analysis, Left turn Phase Warrant Analysis, Composite Studies, Fatal Crash Reviews, Speed Zone Studies and Technical Memos.
- Data collection analysis of corridor traffic counts, including turning movement counts (TMC), average daily traffic (ADT) counts, heavy vehicle counts and queue length studies. Conducted crash analysis for the corridor, Arterial Safety Analysis and Intersection Safety Analyses for the study intersections.
- Project traffic forecasts (travel demand), model support, DRI review, PD&E review, IMR/IJR review, GIS support, and miscellaneous on-site planning support.
- Conduct traffic impact studies to assess the development project’s impact on the surrounding transportation network and determine if adequate capacity is available to support future demand. As part of a preliminary existing conditions study, traffic data was collected at the intersections within the project study area. The traffic volume data includes 24- Hour Bi-Directional Machine Counts, Segment Traffic Volumes and 4-hour intersection turning movement volumes, during the AM and PM peak periods.
