Description Introduction RETTEW is seeking an experienced Traffic Lead with 15–20 years of expertise to guide our traffic engineering practice. This role provides leadership in technical standards, staff development, client relationships, and business growth while ensuring high-quality traffic deliverables. Work Environment: Hybrid (three days in-office) Locations: Berwyn, Lancaster, Lehigh Valley, Mechanicsburg, State College, Williamsport, or Pittsburgh, PA; Akron/Canton, OH; or Morgantown, WV Position Summary / What You’ll Do As Traffic Lead, you will shape RETTEW’s traffic engineering program, set technical standards, mentor staff, and represent the firm with clients and agencies. You’ll oversee traffic studies and modeling while driving business development efforts to expand our footprint in transportation projects. Responsibilities / Day-to-Day Lead and oversee traffic engineering deliverables including studies, intersection analyses, signal design/timing, safety analyses, and MOT/TMP plans. Review modeling and analysis (Synchro, VISSIM, Vistro, etc.) to ensure accuracy and sound assumptions. Interface with state and local DOTs, traffic reviewers, and municipalities; present findings in public meetings. Mentor junior traffic engineers and establish training and technical standards. Lead business development: scope, price, and secure traffic-related projects. Maintain standards for traffic work, keeping up with regulatory and industry changes. Evaluate and integrate new tools and workflows into traffic practice. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; transportation/traffic specialization preferred. 15–20 years of traffic engineering experience across studies, design, and agency/public interaction. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Proficiency in traffic modeling and analysis tools, signal design, safety and capacity calculations. Demonstrated client relationship and public presentation skills. Proven leadership and mentorship experience. Preferred: PTOE or similar traffic-specific credential.
