Description Traffic Supervisor Job Title: Traffic Supervisor Division/Department Reports to: Logistics Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Work Comp Code: 8810 Employee Department: 1905 Employee Status: Full-Time Effective Date: 01/13/2026 Labor Type: SG&A EEO Code: First Mid-Level Officials & Managers Summary: This position will oversee the scheduling and delivery of all shipments (Over the Road Trucks, Intermodal, Rail, Ocean Cargo Containers, Etc.) for customers and Vendors. Work with internal and external partners promoting a collaborative environment that ensures a safe and cost effective on-time shipment and delivery of goods. Seek out continuous improvements projects, processes and policies to streamline and improve overall load tendering and shipping efficiency. Additionally, we work with freight forwarders and/or carriers to certify that tariff codes are correct allowing for accurate tariff and duty billings and correct Country of Origin reporting. Primary Responsibilities: Supervisor Duties: Oversee Direct Reports - Traffic Staff Verify that internal controls are being followed Perform periodic audits of the workflow in the department looking for continued improvement in efficiency and accuracy balanced workload and management amongst traffic team members Prepare, evaluate and maintain employee reviews for direct reports. Resolve employee complaints and problems. Issue discipline, if needed. Ensure that Cross-Training occurs amongst traffic team and Processes are documented for all Traffic Functions Primary Duties: Verify competitive and cost-effective rates are being charged by carriers by: Third Party Controlled Rates/Lanes Work collaboratively with Third Party to make sure that freight costs are maintained and/or new rates received to keep freight costs within budgets. Internal Rates/Lanes Maintain current relations and look for improvement opportunities. Continually search for new carriers to provide service to meet Libman needs. Negotiate prices, FAK rating, and ancillary service contracts. Review Customer and Vendor shipping and receiving routing requirements and implement measures to comply with: Lead times Labeling and documentation Negotiate any issues within agreements that are not achievable (for example: no overhang allowed.) Resolve all issues related to transportation problems with customer delivery. Partner with other areas to communicate traffic needs: Work with dock supervisors to schedule shipments within dock capabilities and resources Work with Production, Order Entry, Marketing or planning on any low or special orders items to achieve customer deadlines or communicate any issues with sales persons Work with accounting to review, provide documentation to support disputes and create processes to eliminate or reduce customer fines. Participate, implement and be a Subject Matter Expert for traffic related activities within the Warehouse Management, Scanning Solution and ERP Systems. Review and approve freight invoices. Calculate freight costs for new or current customers to assist marketing analyst with customer program cost analysis. Research and understand Harmonized Tariff Codes for Libman goods and services including scheduling and providing documents required by customs in other countries Possess a detailed knowledge with ability to create and review necessary paperwork required to process shipments within the system(s) domestically and internationally, including but not limited to: Bills of Lading and Master Bills of Lading Labels Pick Tickets and Packing lists Advance Ship Notifications Customs Entry Forms Review KPI’s on a daily basis. Secondary Responsibilities: Recommend, implement and support Continuous Improvement within the department and the company to improve quality, productivity, safety, efficiency, and cost reduction. Support and assist in creating proactive capacity strategies and Routing Guide requirements Implement, support and enforce all company policies as related to Traffic and Shipping Other tasks and special projects as assigned. Safety: Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the facility through good housekeeping practices. Follow all safety and OSHA guidelines. Other: Analytical Skills: Ability to process and analyze information to identify and communicate unexpected trends Team Player: Interact effectively with other departments that either impact the Traffic Department or are impacted by the Traffic Department both directly and indirectly Flexibility: Able to handle an ever-changing fast-paced work environment. Ability to meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, E-mail and navigating the Internet. Experience with other management and warehouse management systems a plus Physical Demands: Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 15-20 pound occasionally. Working Conditions: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to work load. Special Requirements: Must pass: Pre-employment drug screen and physical. Background check.
