Description

The Traffic Safety Research Technician supports HECAOD’s traffic safety research and prevention efforts by leading data collection activities, conducting data analysis, and developing the tools and resources for campus partners. The Traffic Safety Research Technician will conduct the administration and analysis of panel surveys related to traffic safety behaviors among college students. Additionally, they will be responsible for the development of tools, templates, and resources to initiate and complete campus-specific data collection, analysis, and the dissemination of findings. These resources will be incorporated in an impaired road use prevention playbook for college campuses that will be available nationally. This role involves carried out both independently and as part of a project team. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the administration of panel surveys related to traffic safety and substance use among college students.
  • Monitoring and ensuring the quality and timeliness of data collection efforts across multiple surveys.
  • Performing data cleaning, statistical analysis, and interpretation using statistical software and established protocol
  • Developing and maintaining tools, templates, and resources to support campus-based data collection, data analysis, and dissemination.
  • Preparing summary reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Disseminating research findings through internal reports, public-facing materials, and academic channels.
  • Attending traffic safety network and Collegiate Impaired Driving Collaborative meetings
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support project goals and timelines.
  • Identifying and resolving routine technical or operational issues independently; escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with funder requirements, research protocols, and institutional policies

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate’s Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor’s Degree.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the traffic safety field
  • Experience with survey administration, data analysis, and research documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.

The target hiring range is $19.28- $25.19 per hour. The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the unit’s available budget.
