The Control Room Operator will be based at the Traffic Scotland National Control Centre and will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of day-to-day Traffic Scotland services.
You will be responsible for working within a Control Room environment to ensure continual monitoring of the Scottish Trunk Road Network and providing the required assistance and actions during incidents, breakdowns, road works, major events, poor weather conditions and other circumstances which affect journey times and the travelling public.
In the main the job will involve:
· Monitoring the Scottish Trunk Road Network
· Using CCTV & Intelligent Transport Systems
· Responding to traffic incidents and events
· Answering emergency roadside telephones
· Keeping the public advised via lane control signal units, variable message signs, websites and social media
· Recording and logging events and activities carried out within the control room
This role will be full-time, including nightshifts and working on public holidays, and based on 12-hour shifts including weekend working.
