Description This position performs technical duties in assisting in the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic control devices. Fabricates signs for all city departments. Erects guide, warning, regulatory and street signs. Inspects existing signs and replaces damaged or defective signs. Installs reflectors on roads. Installs or repairs pavement markings. Paints curbs and sign posts; stripes roadways. Clears brush at intersections and from around signs. Installs thermo stop bars, crosswalks, and lane lines. Installs and uninstalls traffic counters. Installs detour and safe work zone barricades, cones and signs. Performs related duties. Requirements Knowledge of the Standard Highway Signs Manual. Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Knowledge of city policies and procedures related to the manufacture, maintenance and installation of signs and pavement markings, Knowledge of work zone safety principles. Skill in the operation of hand and power tools. Skill in the operation and maintenance of an assigned vehicle. Skill in the installation and maintenance of signs and pavement markings. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Responsibilities
