Compensation and Incentives * Weekly Competitive Pay is $30 - $33 * Tool/Boot Reimbursement Program * Referral Program * Employee benefits: Discounted premiums for Medical, Dental and Vision plans, Flexible Spending Accounts * Generous Paid Time Off/ Holiday Schedule * Employer Matching 401K Job Details Job Summary: Responsible for diagnosing, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software. Duties and Responsibilities: * Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers. * Perform annual/systematic 90 day and HM-183 inspections (tankers) on equipment as required. * Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards. * Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed. * Order and receive parts and supplies as needed. * Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste. * Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety. * Using welding equipment. * Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. * Perform HM-183 DOT inspections on tankers (P,V,I,K,L,HS,UC,) (EPA-M27). Education and Experience: * Minimum of 3 years of DOT HM-183 certification, Training or experience. ASE Certification not required but recommended. * High school diploma, completion of G.E.D. required. Additional Job Information Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: * This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours depend on location. Company Information Work Environment: * The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise. Physical Demands: * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. * Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs. * Able to fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome opening. * Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs. (includes all PPE worn) * Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. * Stand for long periods of time. * Walk for long periods of time. * Bend or twist their body. * See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
