YOUR FUTURE ROLE

Take on a new challenge in Derby and apply your Train System Engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Head of External Subsystems, and work alongside a dedicated and passionate Engineering team in Alstom UK&I.
Working in multi-disciplined teams and collaborating across the Engineering team and with wider stakeholders, you will own the development of Train level brakes specifications utilising existing solutions from Alstom portfolio and identifying any developments required from utilising your previous brake system experience. You will lead activities throughout the project V-Cycle with a QDC mindset to define and deliver the required performance through verification and validation.
Day-to-day, you’ll specifically be responsible for the brakes system on current and future projects, identifying brake system requirements, best fit standard solutions, specifying brake control and fluid power requirements to sub suppliers, supporting integration design, ensure static and running performance make the case for approvals and fulfil the needs of our customers.

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
  • A proven track record and a high level of engineering experience in rolling stock brake systems
  • Collaborating in a multi-location team
  • Seeing the big picture and the local detail
  • Characterising and integrating braking, control and fluid power systems.
  • Interpreting large volumes of train level and localised data identifying patterns and anomalies for further attention.
  • Presenting analysis of test and other data in a rigorous and clear manner.
  • From limited operational data identifying if problems exist, their characteristics, and further.
  • Experience of rail industry is highly desirable
