Role Overview This is an exciting entry‑level opportunity to begin a career in front‑office financial markets within TP ICAP’s Equities business, sitting within Link Brokers’ Equities Finance desk. As a Trainee Broker, you will receive structured on‑the‑job training and gain hands‑on exposure to fast‑paced global equity and financing markets, working closely with experienced brokers and institutional clients. The role is ideally suited to a bright, motivated, and commercially curious individual who thrives in dynamic environments, can think on their feet, and enjoys working both autonomously and collaboratively within a small, high‑performing team. The Equities Finance desk focuses on the intermediation of securities financing and financing‑related equity products, facilitating transactions between banks, hedge funds, asset managers, and other institutional counterparties. Key areas of activity may include: Securities lending and borrowing Repo and equity financing structures Balance sheet and inventory financing Liquidity and funding solutions linked to equity positions The desk plays a critical role in: Facilitating liquidity and funding between institutional counterparties Providing real‑time market colour and pricing intelligence Supporting clients’ balance sheet, short‑selling, and financing strategies Interpreting market dynamics such as rates, funding costs, corporate actions, and equity supply/demand Key Responsibilities Provide day‑to‑day operational and commercial support to brokers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the desk. Develop a strong understanding of the credit products traded within Euro Financials, including market conventions and trade lifecycle. Monitor market movements, news flow, and macro‑economic developments relevant to European financial issuers. Deliver live market quotes to traders and clients via messaging systems and trading platforms. Assist in identifying potential trade opportunities and relative value strategies. Accurately capture, calculate, and relay trade details and market information to brokers and clients on a daily basis. Maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality. Act as a positive ambassador for TP ICAP Group, promoting its values and reputation with internal and external stakeholders. Experience / Competencies Essential Foundational knowledge of Equities, Securities Financing, or Financial Markets more broadly. Demonstrated interest in equity markets, financing mechanics, and market structure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and relay market data clearly and accurately. Ability to perform under pressure in a fast‑moving, commercially driven environment. Analytical and problem‑solving mindset, with intellectual curiosity. High ethical standards and a commitment to responsible client service and market conduct. Desired Additional European language skills (written and spoken). Familiarity with market data platforms, trading systems, or financial software. Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Demonstrable interest in equity markets, funding dynamics, and market microstructure.
