TRAINEE BUILDING SURVEYOR
Location: KRA Visionary Project Partners, Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow
Position Type: Full‑time (with 1 or 2 days per week released for part‑time college study over 24 months)

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
· A 2.1 or 2.2 Honours degree in a cognate discipline: Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Estate Management, or similar
· Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new industry‑specific digital tools
· Good communication, neat report‑writing and organisational skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in the office and on site
· Interest in building science, construction, retrofit and building pathology
EDUCATION SUPPORT PACKAGE:
· 50% reduction in postgraduate tuition via employer and SCSI/DkIT funding
· Employer covers €2,000 and employee pays approx. €500 tuition fee
· Day‑release schedule aligned with part‑time online delivery (approx. one weekday per week for college)
· Supportive mentorship and practical training within our practice
· Pathway guidance toward SCSI Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and chartered status after graduation
THE ROLE:
As our Trainee Building Surveyor, you will combine workplace learning with attending the Postgraduate Diploma in Building Surveying (online) 1 day per week. This part‑time programme runs over approximately 2 years and is delivered 100% online:

The employer supports this through the DkIT/SCSI Student Financial Support Scheme, contributing significantly toward course fees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Attend allocated college day weekly (released from work responsibilities)
· Support survey projects: prep inspection notes, draft schedules, utilise digital tools
· Research and assist in the analysis of building defects, materials and sustainability approaches
· Project management including site visits, meeting minutes, documentation etc.
· Undertake client correspondence where appropriate, under supervision
· Contribute to health & safety compliance and reporting on sites
· Shadow senior staff across a variety of client sectors (residential, commercial, industrial, heritage)
