ARE YOU AN ENTHUSIASTIC, MOTIVATED AND QUALIFIED CARDIAC PHYSIOLOGIST KEEN TO JOIN AN INNOVATIVE TEAM OF CARDIAC PHYSIOLOGISTS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Cardiac Practitioner at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our busy and friendly team. You would be expected to work across all MTW sites, including the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) to gain exposure to all aspects of cardiology that the service provides. The post holder will need to apply for a place at University of Middlesex on the Level 6 apprenticeship programme BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac). You would be released to attend the programme at the University Campus, and would be supported to achieve work-based learning objectives.
The Trust offers a range of invasive and non-invasive investigations including Physiologist led exercise stress testing, tilt testing, ambulatory monitory, device follow-up and complex invasive procedures including angiography, PCI, PPM, ICD / CRT implantation and EP. The Tunbridge Wells Hospital site holds BSE Departmental Accreditation in Transthoracic echocardiography, Stress Echo, TOE, Contrast and Bubble Studies. We run a Physiologist Led Valve Clinic at both sites and assist in the Rapid Access Heart Failure Clinic. The Maidstone site is currently in the process of applying for accreditation.
Due to a rapidly expanding cardiology service, significant investment is planned for the service shortly. This will provide an exciting opportunity to be involved in the cutting edge of cardiology and to help shape future cardiac services in Kent.
You will need to apply for a place at the University of Middlesex on the BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac) apprenticeship. You therefore should meet the entry requirements for the programme in order to be considered for this post (2 A levels or equivalent ideally in science, plus Math’s and English GCSE / Level 2 or equivalent). Experience in a Cardiology department is essential for this training post. You will be paid Annex 21 of a band 5 (equivalent to band 4) for the duration of the programme. This equates to the following: 1st year - £24,567.40, 2nd year - £26,457.20, 3rd year - £28,347. On successful completion of the programme you would be paid band 5.
