Starting salary will be on the first point of Band 6 on a 3-year fixed-term contract.

The NHS in Wales is offering 1 salaried post-graduate training programmes in Clinical Bioinformatics Genomics for high-calibre science graduates who are passionate about science and its role in patient care.
The Trainee Clinical Scientist will be employed by the host organisation for a fixed term of three years. During this time, they will work through a work-based programme of learning. This will be combined with an academic programme at MSc level over the three-year period.
The first part of the academic programme will introduce the basic science and theoretical background of the rotational disciplines and their application in clinical science within health, as well as providing an introduction to healthcare services and values. The master’s degree includes a research project within year 2/3.
AWMGS together with Cardiff University, Wales Gene Park, the Pathogen Genomics Unit (PenGU) and Welsh Government are working to deliver the Genomics for Precision Medicine Strategy for patients within Wales. This is a highly exciting and innovative strategy with opportunities for staff, patients, the public and healthcare professionals across Wales. Furthermore, the publication of the Genome UK has established the need for a unified approach to Genomics across all four nations.

This is a three-year post-graduate programme, and the successful candidates will be employed by an NHS Wales organisation for the duration of their training and will be based in one of:
1x Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Wales Genomic Health Centre
The training is aligned with the Scientific Training Programme (STP) and supported by the National School of Healthcare Science.
