Location: Aldridge, West Midlands
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or HND in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC logic and/or electrical design principles (desirable but not essential – training will be provided).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an ambitious Trainee Controls Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Engineering graduate (or similar discipline) who wants to gain hands-on experience in control panel design, PLC programming, and automation systems.
You will receive full training and mentoring from experienced engineers, with the chance to progress to a Controls/Automation Engineer role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the design and build of electrical control panels for automation equipment.
  • Support the programming and commissioning of PLCs, HMIs, and related control systems.
  • Work alongside mechanical and electrical engineers on live automation projects.
  • Carry out wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems.
  • Maintain project documentation, wiring diagrams, and software records.
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and customer site commissioning when required.
