The role of Trainee Cook is an excellent opportunity if you are passionate about food and eager to build a career in catering. You will start as a Kitchen Assistant, learning the foundations of good kitchen practice while gaining hands-on experience in food preparation, baking, maintaining supplies, and keeping the kitchen safe and well-organised. Patience, reliability, and attention to detail are key traits in this role, as the meals you help prepare make a real difference to the wellbeing and enjoyment of our residents.
You’ll work towards your Level 2 qualification in Hospitality and Catering, following a structured pathway where your progress is clear and supported by experienced colleagues. As you learn and meet required milestones, your pay will increase from National Minimum Wage up to £12.60, and then £13 per hour, recognising your growing skills and contribution.
