Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Limited pioneered the growth of unconventional hydrocarbons in India with the drilling of the first coal be methane (CBM) weill in Mehsana in 1993-94 The company today owns a portfolio of unconventional assets with in-place resource of 15 TCF , includes 8 TCF of shale gas , in the eastern part of damodar basin , the most prolific basin , the most prolific basin of the country . We operate our flagship CBM project in Raniganj , West Bengal , which is India’s highest producing CBM block with peak gas production of 1.2 MMscmd (million standard cubic meters per day).
