WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

When you join us as an apprentice, you will:

  • Complete an apprenticeship course relevant to the role, to suit your current education level. At the end of the programme, you will gain a qualification in this field as well as learning the practical skills and hands-on experience doing the job.Join us on our Trainee Development Programme, where you will be given the training and tools to develop your skills through a series of modules over an 18-month period followed by a graduation event.

  • We offer apprenticeships from a level 3 to a degree level apprenticeship fully funded by Galliford Try, tailored to your current education level and course entry requirements.

As an Apprentice Site Engineer, your day to day duties will consist of the below:

  • Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
  • Coordinate site engineering control and setting out activities and provide information to operatives and subcontractors.
  • Complete diary sheets along with any photographic evidence as required.
  • Undertake material reconciliations.
  • Ensure all surveying equipment is calibrated.
  • Carry out as-built surveys on complete works and drawings.
  • Produce 2D & 3D site sketches.
  • Assist in maintaining quality records, ensuring all works undertaken in accordance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) and maintaining the as-built records.
  • Assist in basic planning, monitoring & programming.
  • Assist in mentoring junior and graduate engineers as required.
  • Control and minimise waste on site.
  • Identify/assist in introducing new process, techniques and innovations on site.
  • Ensure all company property under your control is taken care of and stored securely when not in use

This role is available for a Summer 2025 start, with the possibility of an earlier start date to suit yourself and the business. Please note that due to the nature of this role, you may be required to undergo Enhanced DBS or similar security checks.
As part of the apprenticeship programme you will be expected to work in and around the location advertised, with the possibility for travelling to other projects and locations around the UK in the future.
