As a Trainee Horticulturist, day-to-day you will help the team carry out routine maintenance of plants and gardens in parks, reserves and open spaces. As you study, you will learn and develop the skills below:

  • Comprehend factors affecting plant cycles and basic soil science
  • Identify, report, and control plant pests and diseases
  • Recognise different types of amenity plants
  • Evaluate, prune, and train trees and shrubs for optimal growth
  • Prepare and oversee plans for amenity site
