Trainee Support Worker – Graduate Role Profile
Location: Office base in Swinton | Covering Greater Manchester
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8-4, 9-5, or 10-6)
Salary: £25,000 per annum (graduate entry level)
This role does require you own a car and can drive.

Redisher Support Services is an expanding supported housing provider, specialising in working with asylum seekers and other vulnerable individuals across Greater Manchester. We are committed to providing safe homes, compassionate support, and meaningful pathways toward independence.
As our services grow, we are creating opportunities for recent graduates who are passionate about supporting refugees and vulnerable communities. This is a trainee role designed to provide structured development and hands-on experience in supported housing and refugee support.
About the Trainee Role
As a Trainee Support Worker, you’ll gain practical experience in providing housing-related and holistic support to tenants as they rebuild their lives. Under supervision, you’ll learn to assist with tenancy management, access to benefits, health and wellbeing, and pathways into work or education. This is an ideal role for graduates looking to apply their studies in a professional setting and build a career in social care, housing, or community support.
Key Responsibilities (with support and training)
· Assist with assessments and support plans for new tenants
· Learn how to support clients with Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, and welfare entitlements
· Shadow senior staff in completing risk assessments and case management
· Help tenants develop life skills and take steps towards employment or training
· Build confidence liaising with GPs, local authorities, housing services, and other agencies
· Support property monitoring and reporting repairs or tenancy issues
· Develop skills in managing challenging behaviours and safeguarding practices
Essential Skills and Qualities
· Recent graduate in a relevant subject (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, International Relations, Community Development, Criminology, or similar)
· Compassionate, non-judgemental, and resilient
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Organised and able to manage time effectively
· Willingness to learn about safeguarding and trauma-informed support
· Enthusiasm for working with refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable communities
Desirable Experience (not essential – training will be provided)
· Volunteering or placement experience in community support, social care, or refugee services
· Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing, or social policy
· Understanding of cultural diversity and inclusive practice
· Ability to speak additional languages
