Responsibilities

We’re on the lookout for Trainee Construction Materials Testing Technicians to join our Petrie Laboratory team. This hands-on role involves working both in our Petrie lab and at local quarries, carrying out aggregate testing. You’ll start with full training at our Brendale Laboratory before moving into day-to-day operations at Petrie. Regular travel to other quarries will be part of your day, so you’ll need to be comfortable driving between sites.
At the quarry, you’ll collect and prepare rock and aggregate samples, run tests to measure their strength, size, and durability, and record your findings for client reports. It’s a mix of lab work and field work, with plenty of time outdoors and on your feet.
If you like staying active, value safety, and want a secure, long-term career, this role offers a solid pathway – even if the work can be repetitive at times.
