Responsibilities

The Trainee Legal Cashier will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Accounts Manager and the Finance Department in the provision of accurate and timely processing of financial transactions for the practice by providing competent and effective cashiering duties
  • Assisting in the compliance of Solicitor’s Accounts Rule

Key duties will include:

  • Assisting with daily banking tasks, including helping to check and reconcile bank statements.
  • Supporting the processing of client and office transactions, such as entering data and helping with cheque preparation.
  • Helping with the preparation and checking of client bills before they are posted.
  • Assisting in inputting nominal payment requests under supervision.
  • Learning how to help with payment runs (both electronic and cheque-based), including checking details and preparing documentation.
  • Supporting the processing of internal bank transfers with guidance from senior team members.
  • Assisting with the processing of travel and other expenses.
  • Responding to basic queries from colleagues, and directing more complex enquiries to the appropriate person.
  • Helping with client queries and assisting with card payment processing under supervision.
  • Supporting the administration and reconciliation of petty cash with oversight
  • Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and other tasks as needed
