JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our optical practice. This position requires a blend of customer service skills and technical knowledge, particularly in laboratory procedures and anatomy related to eye care. The Optical Assistant will assist both customers and optometrists, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for all.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting is highly desirable.
  • A solid understanding of anatomy related to the eye is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills with a friendly disposition towards customers.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in measurements and customer interactions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist customers with their optical needs, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Help patients select appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions and personal preferences.
  • Perform basic measurements for eyewear fittings, ensuring accuracy for optimal vision correction.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for lens fabrication.
  • Maintain an organised workspace, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Support optometrists during eye examinations by preparing necessary tools and equipment.
  • Keep inventory of optical supplies, placing orders as needed to ensure stock levels are maintained.
  • Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, answering any queries they may have.
