Trainee – Patient Services Casual Timaru Who we are | Ko wai mātou: Awanui Labs Timaru (previously known as Medlab South Timaru) is the provider of pathology services to the people of South Canterbury; providing pathology services to the patients of Medical Specialists, Hospital Clinicians, General Practitioners and Midwives. Awanui Labs Timaru is a part of Awanui Group (previously known as APHG), the largest network of human and veterinary diagnostics laboratories in NZ. Awanui Group has laboratories throughout the country and is committed to providing facilities and services that deliver exceptional care to its clients. About the role | Mō te tūranga: We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Trainee to join our Patient Services. This is a casual position, and hours will vary each week. Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory. About you | He kōrero mōu To be successful in this role you need to have: The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines. Customer focus and commitment to providing a high quality of service to internal and external customers with effective interpersonal skills. A sound knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory operations including safety, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience is desirable, but not essential. Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential. At least a Restricted or Full NZ class 1 license. Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
