The Phlebotomy Department at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals to join our valued team of Phlebotomists. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their care journey, taking blood samples within hospitals, GP surgeries, and community clinics.

About the Role

  • 25 hours per week
  • Working flexibly across multiple sites including Ashford Hospital, St Peter’s Hospital, Woking Community Hospital, and clinics in Hampton, Twickenham, Hanworth, and any future service locations.
  • Shifts will include early starts from 07:00, with the latest finishing at 20:00, covering 4 out of 7 days.
  • Travel between sites is essential for this role.

No previous healthcare experience is necessary – full training will be provided.
Take part in required training and follow protocol in line with best practice.
Take blood following protocol, providing care, empathy and minimal distress to the patient.
To demonstrate professionalism, honesty and integrity in all matters of a confidential nature.
Affective interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a pressurised environment, in a professional manner.
Able to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Able to deal with aggressive nervous and distressed patients
Empathy in dealing with anxious patients
Ability to communicate where there are obstacles to understanding
Clear legible handwriting with the ability to write on a small surface area.
Good hand eye co-ordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to work accurately and quickly in an organised manner with attention to detail
