GradImages is seeking Assistants and Trainee Photographers for graduation events in and around St. John’s, NL.
Are you looking for part-time work, have reliable transportation, a flexible schedule, and own a dark-colored business suit? If so, GradImages may have the perfect opportunity for you!
We need energetic, dependable individuals to assist in photographing graduates at local ceremonies. Candidates should be comfortable working with large groups and providing excellent customer service. Photography experience is a plus but not required—we offer training to the right candidates.
About the Role:
This is a part-time, seasonal position, with two busy periods:
Spring Graduation Season: April – June
Winter Graduation Season: November – December
You’ll work during graduation events in your area, and scheduling will depend on your availability during these peak times.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist graduates with information cards and preparing for portraits
Set up camera equipment and take portraits of graduates, family, and friends using company-provided Nikon cameras
Ensure smooth event operations with team captains and assistants
Provide excellent customer service to clients and families
No postproduction editing or selling required
Pay Rate:
Starting pay is $80 CAD per graduation ceremony, averaging about 4 hours per event (~$20/hour)
Mileage reimbursement: $0.62/mile for travel to and from events
Raises based on performance, image quality, punctuality, and dependability
Requirements:
Must own a dark business suit (dress pants, matching jacket, dress shirt, shoes, and tie for men) for all events
Flexible availability during our busy seasons
Reliable personal transportation to events (mileage reimbursement provided)
Strong time management and dependability
Professional appearance and adherence to our dress code
Job Training:
On-site training is provided. You may start as a team assistant before advancing to Trainee Photographer.

  • Because we work directly with the graduates, the school requires us to have a dress code. Dress in a conservative business suit. Wearing dark colors is required by the school, since the focus is on them. Hair should be natural-looking, clean, combed, and neatly trimmed or arranged. Unkempt hair and non-traditional hair colors are not permitted. No facial piercings are allowed, and tattoos must be covered at all times. Would you be able to Comply with the Dress Code?
