We are seeking to employ a Trainee Central Services Technician. The post holder will be working in the Small Animal Facility as part of a team of up to five staff responsible for the operation of the Central Services within the Biological Support Unit (BSU).
The Central Service area provides services for four animal units within the facility, each with its own unique function. The post involves processing of soiled animal cages via the use of robotic automated machinery, maintenance of automated machinery, some manual cage processing, sterilisation and disinfection of goods, cleaning duties, ensuring QA processes are carried out, and other tasks relating to services within the facility.
The ideal candidate must have at least 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English or equivalent. Experience in working with industrial washers, and/or forklift would be of benefit, but not essential as full training will be provided.
This is a training position allowing the opportunity for individuals with limited experience to gain skills and experience required to perform the role. The probationary period will include in-house competency assessments, tailored to the individual. After a successful probation the postholder will be considered for promotion to Experienced Central Services Technician.
