The Finance department are a busy team, working across all areas of the authority with a net revenue budget of £326.633m (2025-26) and a capital programme of approx. £370m over the Medium-Term Financial Plan.
Fixed term contract dependant on progression through AAT exams with a salary range of £26,352 to £30,962 per annum (subject to pay award and exam qualifications).

ABOUT THE ROLE OF TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT:

As the Trainee Accounting Technician, you will assist the Finance team in providing effective financial services to various clients, with training provided to gain full qualification to Accounting Technician level.

Reporting to the Principal Accountant, your core duties will include:

  • Participate in the budget preparation and final accounts exercises as required by senior staff.
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of grant claim forms.
  • Participate in the monitoring of expenditure against budgets, producing various reports as required.
  • Participate and engage in a structured training programme to achieve full qualification to Accounting Technician level.
  • Operate as an active member of the finance team being managed and supported by the relevant line manager
