POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Network Transport Planner based in Middleton, Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to join Romac Logistics, the fastest growing privately owned Fresh Network consolidator in the UK. You will receive hands-on training and mentorship as you learn to design, optimise, and manage the efficient movement of goods across our network. This role is ideal for someone analytical, organised, and eager to make an impact in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Job type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (06:00 - 18:00)
Salary: £26,000.00 per year
Based: Romac Logistics Ltd, Middleton, Manchester

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• A keen interest in transport, logistics, or supply chain management.
• Strong analytical thinking and a head for data.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A flexible and proactive mindset – ready to adapt and solve problems.
• Organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A willingness to learn systems like ESS/GTS (preferred but not essential).
• A commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

• Learning how to plan and optimise transport routes using advanced software and real-time data.
• Supporting the planning team with load allocation to vehicles for maximum efficiency.
• Analysing transport data and market trends to identify improvements and cost savings.
• Assisting in maintaining compliance with transport regulations and industry standards.
• Collaborating with internal departments and external partners to keep things running smoothly.
• Helping to identify and mitigate risks such as delays and disruptions.
• Monitoring performance metrics and contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
