ABOUT THE ROLE
You will join an experienced and supportive team, working within the Transport Strategy service, which forms part of the Highways & Transportation directorate.

JOB PURPOSE
To gain practical experience in the work of a Transport Planning Technician and become familiar with research techniques, transport data analysis, modelling, development and implementation of transport policies, strategies and programmes.
The post holder will be able to progress through the specified grades as experience, qualification and knowledge is gained. Support, guidance and training will be given to the post holder to assist in effective delivery of the responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and apply knowledge, skills and experience in the delivery of Transport Planning schemes, studies and policies.
- Work closely with internal & external services, consultants, contractors and developers in all aspects associated with the delivery and operation of the Transport Planning service.
- To comply with the accountability of the safety of staff, service users and contractors in accordance with the Department Health and Safety Policy.
- Develop and apply knowledge, skills and experience as expected from a professional technician within the Transport Planning field, in accordance with all appropriate legislation, technical guidance and practice.
- Trainee Technicians will be required to successfully undertake an agreed course of formal training.
- Keeping abreast of changes in legislation, policy and procedures, ensuring such changes are considered in all matters dealt with.
- To abide by the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy and other policies in the duties of the post and as an employee of the Council.
 Qualifications 4 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C) including English, Maths and Science
